How can I help others grow in their relationship with God?

1.Identify and Pray

  • Identify and pray over individuals God has put in your path and ask if God wants you to invest more deeply in them through a discipling relationship

    • Recognize the difference between investing in someone who is spiritually interested but still a non-christian with the goal of helping them become a follower of Jesus vs. Discipling an existing follower of Jesus with the goal of helping them become a multiplying disciple

    • Pray over "who" and "how many" people God wants you to invest in. Is it "one on one" or "one on some?"

2.Consider timeline options

  • Consider your capacity and the capacity of those you're investing in. Is it more realistic and helpful to meet weekly for a short period of time (6-8 weeks) or to meet monthly over the course of 9-months to a year?

3.Resources to help facilitate multiplication

Weekly Options:

4.Additional Instructions

  • While it is wise to use additional resources to help guide your investment in others, none of this is meant to replace the 5% life, but rather to compliment it.

  • Refer to the first section for more details

  • Use the 5% life as your metrics for helping others create healthy growth rhythms

  • In addition to helping them embrace the 5% life, you might consider elements of scripture memory to help internalize truths and to be transformed by the renewing of your mind (Romans 12:2)

How can I have conversations about faith
with my non-Christians friends?

Here are some resources to help facilitate people who are spiritually interested
but have not yet made a decision to follow Jesus:

1.City Church message series "Who Needs God"

  • Meet and talk about it weekly

2.Read the Book of John together

  • Ask the question, “If God were in the room, what would you ask him?”

  • Invite them to read the story of Jesus with you over the next 3 weeks. Ask if they would be willing to meet once a week for 1 hour on the dot and ask these questions:

  • What does it say about God?

  • What does it say about humanity?

  • What did you like?

  • What did you not like?

  • Is there a command to follow or obey?

3.Read “The Reason For God” by Tim Keller together

  • Contends for the logical and rational existence of God

  • You can purchase the book here

  • Meet and talk about it weekly
